Assuming your car is a 250 you will have carbon buildup, because the carbon builds up on top of the value, a spot fuel never touches (not fuel cleaner)

This is called a Special Policy Adjustment and we've been hearing about it coming for several weeks. TSB's were updated the other day. It is the same piston and/or ring replacement. Your vehicle will have to meet specific requirements to be eligible and won't be a 10 minute process. Think more in the line of overnight leaving and possibly oil consumption after 1200 miles. But yes, it has become a big enough problem that Lexus is making a move.

I made the joke in a meeting the other day that if I had the power I'd have all IS250's bought back and crushed.

Update: this campaign is live. There are some strict diagnostic criteria regarding duplicating the issue, but I've seen all but one that came through the door get a free rebuild. It's a 9 year, unlimited mileage campaign, and Lexus will reimburse for repairs for this issue if you had paid for them (within reason, call your dealer, have your paperwork ready)

They also cut the time by 6 hours for the techs that will be doing them. Dealers and techs a very unhappy.

They will be doing it in phases from 2006 first. If u have 09 with this issue it will have to be replicated. Rev ur engine to 4000 rpms for 30 seconds and then snap throttle. Repeat 3 times. If its misfiring at idle and feel car shaking, congrats you qualify for pistons.
