Default Is bank 2 the driver side or passenger side?

Got a CEL that points to my cats going bad but before I replace those, I'm going to replace my O2 sensor to see if it could be that. My only question is which side is bank 2 on the 2IS? I hear bank 2 is always the passenger side but I've heard otherwise.

Bank 1 is the bank with the cylinder towards the front of the engine. Bank 2 is obviously the other side.

For Toyota V6 engines, bank 1 is the RH bank, which in a longitudinally mounted car like the ISx50, that is the passenger side.

Bank 1 = passenger side (RH)
Bank 2 = driver side (LH)

NOTE: For Toyota V8 engines, bank 1 is the LH bank, so for the IS F, that is the driver's side.

make sure the sensor is plug and play and not one that requires splicing wires.

According to this official document:
  • IS 250 2006-2010; IS250C 2010 are with Engine model number 4GR-FSE. First Cylinder is on the passenger side, therefore Bank 1 is on the passenger side; Bank 2 is on driver side!
  • IS 350 2006-2010; IS350C 2020 are with Engine model number 2GR-FSE. Same as above
  • IS F 2008-2010; has Engine model number 2UR-GSE. This is a V8 and First Cylinder is on Driver side, therefore Bank 1 is on driver side. Bank 2 is on passenger side.
Hope this helps
