Default Is it safe to have two lexus keys in one car?

I heard a coworker say she was told it's a no no to have both of her prius' keys in one car at the same time, is it true and is it bad for our cars? Both my friend and I have Lexus and often drive in one or the other with both our keys, never been a problem but if it could cause a problem then we know not to do so. His is a es350 and mine is250.

I can't possible imagine why this would cause an issue..... Both keys are transmitters and send the same signal. Perhaps it's possible to lock your keys in the Prius? Did the friend say why it was bad to have both keys in the Prius?

No. Never heard of this being a problem. I've done this in the past a few times and no problems to report of. You should be fine.

Could it be that personalized settings on the car are programmed to the key??? So if u have both your keys it may be confused whose settings to follow?

Now that makes sense. Never occurred to me, but sounds like it could be an issue. You would think that one would just override the other if both were in at the same time though.

Yeah, but which one has preference. My assumption would be if the car read both it would not change its current settings.

This can be the only issue. I doubt the vehicle has a meltdown if it reads both signals.

As far as two different vehicle keys, I doubt they would interfere.

I'm about 92% sure it uses any keyfob settings of whichever one opens the door... (I suppose if you had both in the pocket of the same person it'd be an issue but hardly one that kept you from using the car)

unless you left your only two keys inside your car and lock it---that's gonna be an issue.

I'm pretty sure it's fine. Whenever me and my wife go out, I have my own key in my pocket and my wife has 2nd set of key in her purse. No problem so far. You will be fine.

They probably ment don't have both your key in at the same time. Cause if one left in the car it wont lock if your don't take both. I don't think they ment to different car keys.

How are you going to do that exactly, since it won't lock using the door button if a key is inside the car?

It's virtually impossible to "lock your only keys in your car" on a 2IS (or any smartkey vehicle I would think).
