Post Should I purchase? 2007 IS250

Sup guys/girls! New to the forum as well as "Club Lexus." I am looking to get my wife an 2007 - 2009 IS250 for no more than $26k. We plan on having the car for about 5-6yrs. Would probably average about 10k miles a yr, sometimes less.

This particular IS250 is a 2007 with 69k miles for $22k. I looked up the VIN and it seems clear minus regular maintenance.

What do you guys suggest in regards to mileage if we're gonna have for about 5yrs?

Buy or No Buy?

I would get the dealership to price it down to 19k. My IS350 was at 23k sticker price and i got it down to 19500. I think you can do the same with this 250. However, know that the 250 does have it fair share of problems so do your research before hand.

Ohh, forgot to add, Lexus can go beyond 200k so i don't think you should have any problem keeping it for 5+ years as long as you do all the regular maintance.

Yea, I'm thinking we would at least be able to get them down to about $20k. As far as issues with the 250,,,I've read stuff in regards to windshield/molding cracking, nav issues, cam gear, and carbon build up issues.

Anything else I need to be aware of?

Carbon build up is the main "issue" but it doesnt affect everyone, nothing else really. I have never had the issue and I'm at 60k miles. Just floor it to blow it all out

What he said^

Make sure you test drive a 350 as well so you know exactly what you want.

carbon build up issue man.. and cpo warrant will be up soon ..if you have 26k your option are just out there, just takes time to search for the right one. with 26k cash you can easily get a is350 or a is250 with 30k mileage

They are like night and day. If you end up goin with the 250 over the 350, there should be a luxury package and the audio package IMO.

Well like i said, this is for my wife lol. So she doesn't need all the extra power. If i can find a good deal on a 350 then i'll definitely get it. But if I can save $1k-2k on a 250, then that's what i'm gonna do.

Thanks for all the tips on the 250 thus far. I read about the carbon build up, so that's why i'm leaning towards a CPO with a good lifespan left. Just came across this particular sale and wanted some "expert" opinions.

I didn't want to generalize, I'm sorry. She really doesn't need the 350. I'd save your pennies where you can.
Someone posted about waiting for the right deal, I think you should definitely push for something CPO with lower miles for factory warranties.

Had a thought...would it be smart to wait until around Nov/Dec to try and get an '09 for about &26k? I'm thinking that prices should start dropping towards the end of the tear since a new model is coming out and the 2012 is suppose to be the 3rd generation.

Keep in mind, i'm in Northern Va.
