Do you know that sound you get from a cd player when you first put in a cd and its starting to read it? It's a highish pitched whine? I'm hearing that in my interior whenever I have the car in drive and start accelerating. It sound like its coming from behind the dash on the passenger side. Anyone know what it is? I'm thinking its a belt but wanted to verify with people before I went into the dealership.. its starting to get really annoying. Once I'm rolling above 20 mph it seems to be constant, but gets a little louder when I start to accelerate.

FYI- My car has 32k miles and I haven't really touched anything inside the engine aside from regular maintenance.

Is your phone/iPod plugged into the aux port and the charger at the same time when you're hearing this noise? Could be a feedback loop from the aux port and car charger. There's a TSIB that you can have addressed under warranty that replaces the aux port with a newer version to eliminate this.

Yeah its not that, I had that TSB done awhile ago. Thanks for the input though! I may have to just take it in, just sucks because the Lexus dealership is like 50 mins away..argh. Or I can probably dig into the engine this weekend and try to track it down.

So with your audio system completely off and the AUX input disconnected do you still get that noise?

Yep, my 2007 IS350 has the exact same noise. It only happens in cold weather though. To me, the noise seems to come from the driver side. A sharp high pitch noise. I did't bother to bring it to the dealer because I don't think it is that easy to reproduce and let alone rootcause. I just put up with the occasional annoyance.

BTW, I have the dash rattle and driver seat squeak as well.

Noise and rattle are my biggest gripe on the IS.

Is it this noise you are hearing at start up?

Turn the volume all way up. The noise start at 0:13, 0:16, 0:24 and loudest at 0:32

This is the short version of this noise. Sometime I got a longer version that sounds like in 0:32 and repeat itself 3-4 times. The longer version actually makes the car sounds like an Autobot in transformers

This ONLY happens in summer and specially when it is hot outside and the car is parked in a cooler garage.

My noise is different, though that sounds like a nasty one. I think its either a belt or possibly even something inside the filter area inside the glove box. I'll do more investigation this weekend and keep everyone posted. I tried to record the sound with my iphone but it didn't come out.

Just wanted to give people an update, the noise was actually the water pump. The SA told me that it had a small leak so it was replaced under warranty. CD noise during acceleration = water pump lol.
