I like the idea of the motion detection recording when you are away from the car.

its basically a lite mobile version of the pc app. you have to take out the sd card from the camera and insert it in your phone to use the app.

its pretty easy to do, just need to t tap 2 wires ( power and ground) then run it to your camera. took me 30 mins or so to run the power cable and mount the camera.

I don't understand the motion detection when out of the car feature in the blackvue... What's the difference vs having the camera on at all times when you're out of the car?

I think the difference is that motion detection means to detect movement of the car itself with the g sensor and to start recording once it senses motion of the vehicle, while having the camera on at all times is recording always.

Also, a benefit would be having a memory card filled with "action" shots as opposed to just nothing

So. Anyone want to share amusing footage they've caught on their dash cam? I know someone caught the passenger in front of them spewing out of the car lol.

You should definitely watch the youtube video above. It explains about the app and that it's the same setup as the PC software.

It should be...

you can just route the wire from the headliner to the side piller and into the fuse box if you know what are doing or into the cig lighter by your gear shift.

I used power off of the rear view mirror. I'm only interested in proving that an accident wasn't my fault and making videos of crappy drivers for youtube
