Default Air Conditioning Causing Rough Idling

Whenever I turn on the A/C, the RPM's starts to move up and down while I'm at a stop. The fluctuation in RPM is large enough to make the car jump forward if I don't firmly press the brakes. I tried turning the car off and turning it back on, but the problem still persisted. Has anyone experienced this with their IS? Any recommendations as to what the problem may be?

Thanks!

check all your connectors and take it to an auto parts shop for a quick free diagnostic
