Default Is the 08 IS wheel finish considered Clearcoated or Machined?

Just curious because I was wondering if I could get the finish my two rear wheels restored somehow.
And the wheels I'm referring to are the Liquid Titanium.

Tihs is a tough question. Most factory rims are painted, no matter what color they are. They do this to hide blemishes and save money. If your rim is Liquid titanium, it is painted and then cleared. But that doesn't necessarly mean its not machined. By definition, a machined surfaced is the removal of some meta, usually involving a lathe. I believe those rims are cast and there could have been machining involved in the process, and they painted.
Why do you want to restore your rims? Are the damaged by curbing or is the color/paint fading? You can repaint them to original color.

Thanks

the cars front left fender and door has apparently has been painted(didn't notice til after I bought it). And it looks like the idiot who painted the car put clear coat or over spray over bake dust covered wheels and it just looks bad. Ive claybar'd them and they look better but you can still feel the over spray.

Try some heavy duty rubbing compound or lacquer thinner. Just be very cautious with lacquer thinner. You ought to mask your tires before trying either of these.

A more aggressive clay bar could work too. And lots of elbow grease!

When I hear the term "machined" and wheels in the same sentence, I think of a machined (unpainted) wheel surface with a clear coat for protection.

Our OE split 5-spoke wheels are a factory painted/cleared alloy.

No machining here that I see. Only paint and clearcoat.
