Too different for me...

It looks like it should belong for video game use. I would like to pilot a F/A-22 Raptor with that type of control.

I would hate to miss the "wheel" by grabbing the openning when trying to U-Turn or parallel park. - " oh Nooooz!!!" ***curb***

The only cars you see open top steering wheels on are F1 cars in which they have an extremely tight turning radius where a 45 degree nudge of the wheel will make the car do 180 degree turn. I really believe there is a reason why absolutely no one with a road car, even a high performance road car has done this. In order to turn a corner on the IS you need hand over hand turning of the wheel. An open top wheel would make this extremely difficult and flat out annoying, maybe even dangerous.

No offense but i'm going to give this mod a -100000000000000000
Please let's not forget my wife's ISlow50 is a RACECAR now...

OP has said it will be used for shows, not daily driving.

On that note: is that any regulations on steering wheels? Is that illegal?

The exact same way you make a u-turn with one hand with a full steering wheel... Guess I'm confused with your question?

Thanks Don. And yea it may be illegal. I can assure you I fit the bill of a law breaker... I'm 6ft 3 and weigh 150 lbs... And I wear glasses.

I think it's awesome. Looks like the flight control of an airplane.

Thanks jg...
I will say the M3's steering wheel on the episode of my ride rules was a bit much though. Below is the video

I appreciate your effort to do something different, but I'm not a fan of it. I just can't get the idea of a plane out of my head...
