Default IS350 run through the mountains

***UDATED WITH A SECOND TRIP AND VIDEO ON PAGE 2***

Had some free time finally, and decided to take a run up through the north Georgia mountains. I went with my best friend in his Panoz AIV Roadster, my brother in his CLK55 AMG, and my Dad in his crazy CLK63 AMG. We headed out early in the morning to beat traffic, then did what they call "6 Gaps."

http://www.tailofthedragonmaps.com/maps_sixgap.html

The cars are pretty nuts. For those of you who have never seen/heard of a Panoz Roadster, it is made out of aluminum and has all the components of a Mustang Cobra (305 bhp and only 2000 lbs). The black CLK55 has been lightly modified to about 420 bhp, but the silver CLK63 has been heavily modified with just about everything dynoing at 635 bhp.

The roads were awesome, no traffic, and the IS definitely held it's own. The heavy Mercs couldn't keep up through the twisties, and I was glued to the Panoz's bumper the whole time. I was very happy with how the IS performed, never a loss in power and the handling was spot on (thanks to those F-sport sways). The brakes did experience some fade on the first downhill run, but I started to use sport mode and the padels to ease the brakes and that worked like a charm. Now time for some new rear tires!!!

I took some video and will try and post later, as well as some pictures from the other guys.

***video added at bottom of page***

Enjoy...I know I did

Looks fun! Good looking Panoz too. I've only done a couple of canyon runs myself, and had a good time each time.

Must have been high up in the mountains. I'm in Augusta and it's been in the 70's the last few days. Nice pics (and rides).

Awesome! I did a run a few months ago with my IS350 and my friend's Audi A4. Hella good time.

As a side note this sounds like a fun meet the GA/NC/TN folks can do one day.

One of these days I will drive the tail of the dragon. Looks insanely fun.

At least we have our Mount Baker run every year.

Here is the link to a video of some of the drive...sorry for the poor quality, I just sandwiched my iPhone in the passenger seat headrest...the end is the best, after I pass both Mercedes and chase down the Panoz...the video does not really show how fast we were really going...
