Default Stupid question about auto windsheild wipers

My wife’s '08 IS350 has auto windshield wipers. When in the auto mode (1 click down)... how should they operate? Where should the "auto" line on the moveable part of the **** be pointed at? They seem to work... but they do not come on soon enough, nor do they seem to speed-up as the rain increases.. Is it an adjustment issue, or do I have them set incorrectly?

There would be some delay - the rain has to be hitting around the sensor area. You could probably test it with a water hose .

From previous experience with auto rain sensors, it speeds up as you drive faster. And of course, with more rain. It also slows down when you're at a stop. I don't have this feature on my IS but that's how they generally operate

There should only be one way to set the auto feature for the wipers, and that is with 1 click down. The other auto line your referring to I believe is for the auto headlights?

Her’s has both auto headlights and rain sensors... but they are on different stalks.. to engage the auto rain sensor, from what I understand, you have the wiper stalk 1 click down in the “auto position" but the end of the stalk still rotates and has the word "auto" on it with a line beside it. Just wondering what that effects? It does slow down when I stop, but doesn’t come on early enough or speed up fast enough for my taste… Just wondering if it is a setting… or am I doing something wrong..

Rotating the sensitivity towards you (counter-clockwise from the end of the stick), increases sensitivity. Rotating clockwise (away from you) reduces the sensitivity. The owners manual also has information about this (fyi). I believe there is also a permanent sensitivity increase also (not using the ****), although I'm too lazy to look it up atm
