Default How To Change Out DRL Bulb??

I want to change out the ugly old yellow bulbs in the DRL lenses, how do I get access to it, and what bulbs are available? I'm thinking LED. I don't want to change out the whole headlight assembly even though I see aftermarket ones on ebay (I may get them later).

I'assuming you are aware that the DRL bulb is also the high beam bulb and if you change it, you'll lose your high beams. There are threads on this.

The DRL is not a separate bulb, it is your high beam bulb running at 20% power. Changing it to an LED will effectively kill your high beams. I didn't want to lose my high beams so I just disabled it because I hated the dingy yellow look of it as well.

^^^^Disabling the DRL is a Lexus Personalized Setting and AFAIK needs to be done at the dealer. Some will do it and some won't, those who will may charge.

Arctic whites are what I have - they look a little bit creamy white in daylight and dawn/ dusk will appear crystal white

With these bulbs you keep your Hi-beam option as well. The blue coating on the bulb gives off a cool look from the front of the car when the low beam and parking light are on as well as the parking light shines through the blue bulb

Just changed my DRL last week.

You need the decoder too,so the led's don't flicker, bought these from ijdmtoy and they work great

Just remove the plastic covers and airbox and you can access the high beam bulb.

Yes, you can simply disable the DRL and still have high beams. You need Techstream stream to do it.

Open hood of car, remove engine covers, and remove dust cover from back of headlight - just trace it from housing to back of headlight and you will see the cover, remove connector from bulb, reach in and rotate bulb out

Or just leave the connector off of the bulb - this or pull the relay in the fuse box compartment

Then your high beam won't work either. It's the same bulb.

There's really only 3 options here:
1) Change nothing, keep the yellow looking DRL, keep your high beam
2) Get LED high beam bulbs, bright white DRL, lose your high beam
3) Disable DRL on Techstream, lose the yellow DRL and keep functioning high beams

I never use hi beams anyway--I just want to change the ugly yellow oem DRL. Do the main bi xenon headlights ever go out?

I vote for Option 3,,, DRL's (especially yellowish ones) are for Millennials,,, I am too old skool for that,, We didnt have no DRL's back in the 60's dammit...
