I am buying a brand new steering rack for my is 350 as it needs one. multiple dealerships are telling me different part #s and i am wondering if i were to order the newest updated one which i believe is on the 2012 models, would that not work as my car is an 06-08 and has vdim and is the 06 steering ecu?? I really need to know which part to order as it is extremely expensive and no one seems to point me in a clear direction.

Could you explain a bit about calibrating the steering ECU?

How it is performed in short?

I ask because my steering rack went bad and the dealer replaced it with a new unit. Now I can feel that the steering effort is different between left and right off-center. I wonder if the dealer has ever recalibrated my steering properly.

Any 2IS steering ECU should work in any 2IS, so I wouldn't worry about it not working. That being said, what specification is your car now? How much stiffer would you like the steering?

You just follow the calibration procedure. There are a few steps like centering the steering wheel and then letting it do its thing. It's relatively fool proof.

If you have the Sport Package, then yes it is the same, but if not you can either get the Sport Package ECU for a bit stiffer, or go for the IS F ECU for the most stiffness.

Original part number in your car would be 44200-53080 which was replaced by 45200-53130, which was then replaced by 44200-53180, which was then replaced by 44200-53181, this is the most current part number for your car. Alternatively, there was a campaign to replace the steering rack in those years of IS, the part number for the campaign part kit is 04007-06753.

So either 44200-53181 or 04007-06753 would be the correct part for your car.

In short: you connect the TechStream to the car, select EPS calibration and follow a few instructions. The car then does its thing (which includes the steering wheel wiggling back and forth a bit). That's all.

like jeff already said, all ecu are compatible with each other.. even my 2006 uses a 2011 ecu

My car is build date june 2008, sold by Lexus on june of 2009.
IS350 with Luxury package, before this car i had 328i and WV CC on both of this cars steering feel was nice and tight, but Lexus feelsmlike kinda numb lose, but i drove my friends 08 350 with basic package his steering feel was even worst than mine, i never drove an ISF but i hope it's much tighter, just spoke to junkyard they sold out 11' isf ecu, and i bought from 08 ISF, i should get it next week. I'm looking for something at-least like on g37 or 328i.

Here is the question since i am getting used 08 ISF steering ecu with part number 89650-53040! Do i need calibration?
How much stiffer it will be?

Yes you should get it calibrated.

As for how much stiffer, that is hard to describe, if I had to put a number on it, I'd say like 50% stiffer I guess.

So, what should i say to dealer "hey i got new ecu from isf, can you guys calibirate it?" can they avoid my warranty? Just wondering plus how much it will cost?
I have friend he has open port program for Lexus and willing to send me it's like 70 mb application for windows, he said i just need to buy adapter cable to connect to my laptop and i can calibrate it myself?

Yes if you had the Techstream Lite software and an adapter cable you can calibrate it yourself.

As for going to Lexus, I wouldn't even tell them that you put in one from an IS F or anything like that, just say you had your steering ECU replaced and were instructed to bring it to the dealer to get it calibrated. Not sure what they'll charge you. Probably 0.3-0.5 hours.

Hello guys,

so with reading this thread I got curious. I picked up a 2010 ISF ECU but according to partnumber (53041) it should be the 2011. Anywy i put it in my 06 Is250 6MT and it definitely stiffnes up on the first run. The second run it felt like it got a little lighter. hopefully it calibrates some more. I also did the brake/handbrake tap dance to remove most assits for the first run so maybe that contributed to the even more stiffer feel.

For anyobe lookibg, hit up your junkyards! i got the ECU for $200 CAD and the ISF it came from apparently had only 1km on it.

Just installed 08-10 ISF steering ECU feels more tight and heavier, and i can Confirm "Power Mode" makes more tighter (heavier). but i think i need calibration.
