Here is a SMALLLLLLLLLLLL list of some of the post auction sales at Manheim Auto Auctions this month. Mind you these are ONLY from Atlanta and a few from Pittsburgh (wanted a northern city).

*******When a dealer SELLS a car at their dealership they base their sales prices off of Kelley Blue Book. When the dealer BUYS a car from auction, they base their purchases off of Black Book value. The difference between Black Book and Kelly Blue Book is roughly $2000.00. This gives the dealership (assuming they bought a car at Black Book value) a minimum of $2000.00 profit on a car.

Also remember, this is AUCTION sales at a professional auction. This is where all the big dealerships sell there cars. These cars at in the same auction lines as Lambo's Rolls Royce's, Ferrari's, etc.

Oh yeah.. they pay $16,900 plus roughly 1-3% in auction fees, plus $90 inspection totaling roughly $17,500 for the dealer. This means after certifications and oil changes and other maintenance, the dealer will have probably $18k+ in it.. then they put it for sale for about $21k hoping to get about $19k for it!

You have to be a dealer and you have to be registered in order to walk in to the auction building. Here in Atlanta, a police officers checks your drivers license and your auction ID BEFORE you even walk through the front door.

Nah unfortunately no. They are for dealers only and you have to be registered through the state.

Some people love to drive! I put 185,000 miles on my 2003 IS300 before I bought the IS350. I love being behind the wheel, driving to Florida, up north, downtown Atlanta, etc.

They're prob Manheim prices. When dealer takes your car for trade-in these are the prices they base it off of.

I am sure a lot of them were trade-ins. In fact, if they weren't traded in then these are cars off the lot the dealer couldn't sale. Usually 8 times out of 10 the dealer will take ALL trade-ins to auction because they don't think they can sell them.

NO, the dealer bases their prices of of KBB.. PERIOD. It doesn't matter what the wholesale price of a car went for at auction, it matters what KBB is. The auction price simply tells you that you actually have a lot of room to negotiate the car price with the dealer rather than eating their over priced sticker price

That's because the IS350 is a more popular car. The 250 being slow really makes it a hard thing to wanna keep. People will lease the 250, hate it, and then dump. They will lease buy their 350's.

Lexus sells massively more 250s than 350s... up to 2010 something like 80-90% of all 2ISes sold were 250s...which kinda means the 350 is the opposite of popular in that sense. I'll be very curious to see the final 2011 model year numbers to see the impact offering the 350 in AWD finally has.

A lot more 250s get re-sold because a lot more 250s are sold in the first place. That's not necessarily the only reason you see more 250s for sale, but it would have to, mathematically, be the primary one.
