There's a few reasons behind it if you ask me..

1) Used car values. If you own a IS250/350, go to Carmax right now and get a trade in value. You'd be surprised what you get. I got a value of about $1,500 more than i was expecting!

2) A lot of them are coming off their 3 year leases right now. Seen a lot of 2008 CPO's at the dealer, and a few 2009's even.

3) People are done making their 4/5 year payments on their 2006/2007 model 2IS's. I know a good number of people that will keep the car until its all paid off and then trade it in or sell it privately within 6 months of being done with payments lol.

4) People want to upgrade to the 2011 model. I've seen this quite a lot here on this forum too, people trading in their older model IS250/350's for the 2011 models. It's that LED strip on the headlight of the 2011's that seals the deal

I myself have been thinking about trading my car in or selling it to Carmax. We will see how my end of the year bonus and salary changes go.....Been thinking about getting a 2011 on lease and keeping an S2K as a daily driver. Always wanted one and im not getting any younger...

Actually, considering the garbage economy we are in now, ALOT of people (including myself) are glad to have paid off our cars and don't even want to think about another payment for a while. I am notorious for spending money on cars when I shouldn't be.....but even I know with the direction car makers are going nowadays (reliability, styles, options, etc...), it's not worth it anymore.

Hahah you know what i had a discussion about this with some homies recently, and it seems a lot of them would rather cut back elsewhere and keep the car payment to have the nice car than anything else! Of course the smart thing to do would be be to keep the paid off car and avoid the payment, but hey...lol maybe its a LA state of mind..
