Default Car value with the new IS coming out

Hey guys,

I need your help on deciding if I should sell my car now, before it takes a hit in value with the new ones coming out. It is a 2006 IS 350 with 24,000 miles. It is breakwater blue with black interior and has the sport package and nav but not mark levinson, it also has the rear spoiler. I don't want to sell it for another year when I graduate school, but am afraid if I wait til then it may not be worth what I am hoping to get for it. So, I am assuming it will have around 35,000 miles by then, would I be able to get 23,000$ for it one year from now, do you think?

Thanks

I honestly think youd be lucky to get 23k for it now. I got my 2008 lexus is350 with 35k miles on it ( with the same options as you) for just under 25k ( bought it 8 months ago). it also had warranty and still does have it on the car. I also got it from a dealer and wasnt a private sale.

Just thought id let you know.
I mean i may have gotten a pretty good deal, but i think in 1 year it should be worth around 20k, if not less :/

I still can't figure out why everyone assumes the next-gen model kills resale on the old one.

That certainly wasn't the case with the first-gen IS when the second gen came out... and that was a case of the 2nd gen being a vastly nicer car from everything but a mod-for-hp perspective.... the 3rd gen IS, based on what we've seen of the next-gen GS, will be a much, much, smaller "improvement"

Whether or not you want to keep your car for the next year right now, just know that right now is a GREAT time to trade in your car. Used car prices are up there right now and so are trade-in values. I'm not sure how things will be in a year, but right now is a great time to trade up if you are in a situation to do so.

Don't worry so much about how much you will get for the car. Remember that even if you trade it in 3, 6 or 12 months from now for a lesser price, you've been using the car for those 3, 6, or 12 months. Those months aren't worthless to you, you drove the car. Some people freak out just because the price (obviously) goes down the longer they hold onto the car. There's also external factors you can't predict that could affect your car value too (i.e. car gets damaged/in an accident) the longer you keep the car. Too many factors really

As far as getting $23,000 on it in a year....i'm gonna say definately not if your trading it in, and probably yes or real close if your selling it private.

Are you getting the 3IS? If so, what will you be driving between now and the next gen?

My plans, I don't think/care that the 2IS will decrease a lot in value. If the next gen looks good, I might just trade up.

Yes, I would be selling it privately and I have no idea what I want next, I just know that I want 23k for it... so If that means selling it now, I will. But if its below that price already, I will probably drive it for a long time. But, I worry about my nav everyday... if that goes out, I will not be happy to spend the money to replace it.

Unless u already have 2 cars and need to sell one it's gonna be the same, selling ur and get another car u gonna still pay out a high value. You might be able to get 23k but may be tough with the color that u have.
