Question Will my windows break under hot sun ?

Need your help guys. I have the 2010 IS 300( Gulf Spec ) and currently do not have a shed at home. As a result I would be parking the car outside in the parking lot with no shades at all. I do not have any kinds of window tints as it's illegal to have one.

The problem is temperatures in this country reach's more than 50 degree Celsius easily (some times even 60) and I keep my windows fully rolled up in order to avoid getting the interior's dirty with dust and so forth.

But I've heard someone say that in this heat if the windows are not left open slightly it could lead to broken window's due to the heat. Is this true ? I would probably get a shed next week or the week after that but I do not want to risk breaking my windows ( Expensive replacement proposition ) by that time. The only solution I have for this now is go every one hour and open the doors to release the hot air outside, until i get my shed.

No I'm sorry I do not know anything about glass. But just to make sure about the heat in this country, it gets as hot as 60 degree Celsius which is exactly around 140 Fahrenheit. Are you sure the glass won't crack in such heat with windows rolled up fully ?

No I have not seen window cracks personally but a lot of people who have warned me are all older people in their 50's who owned cars like 97 Mazda's , Van's etc who keep their windows slightly open when parked directly under hot sun.

I have honestly not spoken to any other luxury car owners or lexus owners regarding this. Most of the cars parked here are toyota's, Mitsubishi's etc which range from model year's 97-07. Few of them have their window's opened slightly and few have not. But since mine is the only newer luxury car around in the parking lot there is no one i can enquire from.

In Arizona, car dealers have thousands of cars sitting daily in 120+ temperatures.

It wont break. SOMETIMES if its hot and you use water, your windshield MIGHT crack.

I leave my sunroof cracked when I park outside. A coworker had one of their windows crack from leaving out in sun without cracking open a window and I know a couple others that this had happen to. None of them Lexus. It can't hurt to do this.

The windows will not crack as long as there are no existing cracks in the window or if the temperature had extreme fluctuation.

Since I'm certain your not seeing snow and then 50 C, the only way for your window to crack is if there is already an existing crack.

It could get up to 70 C and I bet your window still wont crack.

The glass will be OK, BUT you will need to worry about the DASH!!!

It's soft plastic and will melt Get yourself a sun deflector for your front windshield and tint those windows!!!!

glass is created by heating up a carbon compound to a VERY high temperature. you're good. if it really bugs you that much, get some window visors and roll your windows down a bit. it will probably help with the dust issue
