Default IS250 owners!

Well the 240 is pretty much gone and soon after the camaro, so im looking for a nice luxury car. I went and test drove a couple 07 TL's, TSX, and an Is250, the IS just seems built better to me, i can feel the power diffrence that the TL has over the IS but im just looking for good gas. Anyway my real question is how do you like owning the car, any issues you have had, anything to watch for when im looking?? Anything you could tell me would greatly appreciated.

i'm a 350 owner not a 250 owner but the build quality is excellent and it is a very comfortable car. Honestly I would spend the extra few K and get the 350, the MPG's on the 250 are not that much better than the 350 and the extra 100 ponies are worth it. (IMHO)

An excellent point. The mileage difference between a 350 and 250 is almost negligible. If you can, go with the 350, you wont regret it.
As far as maintenance and issues, there's a couple recalls on the car, but an oil change and air filter change at regular intervals is mostly all you need to keep it running well.

Yeah. I think he means similarly priced IS250 vs IS350, the 350 would have much higher mileage, and be an older model year. IMO, just shop it out. Drive everything and see what feels best. If the IS250 doesn't feel slow to you, by all means, go for it. I went with an IS250 mainly because I got it in manual, and its RWD. A great experience after driving FWD for 5 years.

gas mileage is pretty crummy man. I have had several Acura's and they got much better mileage. But, the Lexus is a nicer car and i figure the decreased mileage is the price i pay for driving a car i enjoy more.

But anyway, My girlfriend just got an 07 IS250, and man oh man is that thing sweet. Nice pickup, though nothing like the 350 or ISF. Great handling, and extremely spacious. I'd highly recommend any 2nd gen IS car.

He obviously means that at the budget he's set for himself, he can either get used IS350s with 80,000 miles (or above) or used IS250s with 50,000 miles (or above).

What's your budget, OP?

If power is not a big deal to you, by all means get a 250. I got a 350 just knowing that I wanted the extra HP. Other than that, no major differences. Its a great car in general.

I, personally, love my IS250. It's a very smooth ride, the car looks great and its got enough power for everyday driving. I think its the perfect car if you want to do what i do...which is have a great car for comfortable commutes. I took it a road trip in it a while back, it got great gas mileage the whole way and it was super comfortable.

Look out for is the dash rattle - There's a TSB for it, so its a free fix if the cars under warranty. But check for any rattles coming from the dash when your test driving one, especially if the car is out of warranty. The only other issue ive had besides this is the carbon build up issue, where the car will start shaking at idle...but there's a TSB for this too and Lexus fixed it free of charge no questions asked

IMO, Lexus customer service alone is a good enough reason to buy a Lexus over an Acura. I've had to deal with Honda/Acura, Nissan, Mercedes, BMW and G.M. customer service in the past and hands down Lexus customer service surpasses them all with BMW a close second.

Definitely not true. Unless your driving a 250 in the city a lot...it gets good MPG!

Altho this isn't the typical MPG (it was the best i've ever seen at half tank), i usually average 30+mpg for my commute.
