Default so how quick is the IS350

I'm reading an issue of Road and track, feb 2007 where they have the car doing the 1/4 mile in 13.5 @ 103.1 mph. But in Oct 2005 they have the same car at 14.5 @ 98.6 . In both tests the cars are rated at 306 hp. Is there something different about them? That is a huge difference.

I also noticed that it seems more people here have the IS250 instead of the IS350, or is that my imagination?

Definitely not your imagination. The 250 is more popular (and less expensive) and up until this year, the 350 only came in RWD which was a deal breaker for ppl like me who live is snowy winter areas.

The car will behave differently based on temperature, humidity, elevation,etc... it's difficult to get consistent numbers everytime. Did they mention the location or the track that they use?

My guess is more people have IS250 because it's more affordable than the IS350. You'll see a lot more on the streets. After buying IS250, you have more cash to dump into for the mods such as HID, body kits, wheels, etc.

The difference is that during the 2005 test they did not know that traction control could be disabled via the pedal dance and therefore the tests were done with traction control on. The 2007 test is done with traction control off.

Edmunds' results are consistent with this as well. They found a .9 second improvement with traction control turned off.

Bottom line - traction control is rather intrusive and prohibitive on WOT from 0.

Wow, with that kind of acceleration I think I might start looking for a used IS350. I had no idea they were so fast.

Its stupid fast. I know I'm going to get some hate for saying this but I wish I would have just bought a 250 w/ lux pack instead of a 350 w/ only premium.

Would any of you consider a salvage title car if it was $5,000 to $7000 under Blue Book?

I wouldn't do it. There are so many electronics in the car, if anything is messed up bad, then you're at the mercy of the dealer. Unless you can do most of the diagnosis and repair yourself

there are other threads on here about this and the risks associated with salvage...

Here's a fun thread arguing the IS350 to be the fastest naturally aspirated 4 door sedan
