Default Possible to Change Shift Points?

On the way home from work Friday, I had to swerve to avoid an idiot on the freeway. As I swerved to miss him, I accidentally grabbed the left (downshift) paddle. The engine kept revving, but the car didn't move, just coasted over to the side of the freeway. Now the car seems to shift weird, like it's in a higher gear than it should be in. Is it possible that by grabbing the paddle shifter that I changed the transmission shift points?

For the automatic tramissions, the ECU would not of allowed you to downshift to gear if it at a speed that it was impossible to because it would of been beeped twice as a warning that downshift is prohibited.

Maximum speeds at which downshifting is possible shown below: (from Lexus feature book I have)

IS350
5th -> 4th: 109 mph / 175 km/h
4th -> 3rd 83 mph / 134 km/h
3rd -> 2nd: 54 mph / 87 km/h
2nd -> 1st: 27 mph / 44 km/h

IS250 RWD
5th -> 4th: 113 mph / 182 km/h
4th -> 3rd 82 mph / 132 km/h
3rd -> 2nd: 56 mph / 91 km/h
2nd -> 1st: 23 mph / 37 km/h

IS250 AWD
5th -> 4th: 109 mph / 175 km/h
4th -> 3rd 79 mph / 127 km/h
3rd -> 2nd: 54 mph / 88 km/h
2nd -> 1st: 22 mph / 35 km/h

What year is your car? If I remember reading correctly, from 09+, you are able to do a temporary downshift with the paddles even in D, whereas in the previous years it wouldn't do anything unless you're in S.

Correct me if I'm wrong. ^^
