Default Getting IS250 Detailed

Just wondering if people get their car detailed and how much it usually costs them. I'm planning on doing it as soon as all the salt/sand is washed off the roads in the next week or two...

Local place has a package that is inside/outside - the works that takes 6 hours and costs $140.... Just wondering if that is a good price (I've had a lot of people vouch for their quality of work) or if it seems high.

I took my car to the dealership for my detailing job. I believe it cost about 130. They buffed the exterior and conditioned the interior. All in all... I am pretty satisfied with their work... but of course... you can always detail it yourself to save some money and "do it correctly". This will be time consuming though!

Since I bought it not to long ago - and was at the dealer I got it from for like 36 hours they didn't get it done.... they gave me $150 off the price to get it done myself and figured I would get it done right somewhere - and then I could copy later myself... but for the first one I would like to set the bar high for me to keep it clean.

Thanks for the input

140 for 6 hours of work sounds like a steal.

I just got my car detailed by a local detailer for $100 for about 2-3 hours of work. He did a wash, clay, 1 step polish, and wax. He actually did my front end first since I was just going to only get my clear bra done, but when he was done the front end looked new and the rest of the car looked like crap lol. Pretty happy with his work. I would actually stay away from dealerships when getting detailing them. They wash the cars with brillo pads when prepping them, I don't see how it would be much different during a detail.

In terms of doing it yourself, you could probably get away with a wash, clay, wax as long as your paint is in good condition and use a good clay that doesn't mar. I am now a firm believer that a clay is MANDATORY after the winter season. There's so much junk that sticks onto your car its ridiculous.

One time I payed someone to detail my car. I watched him the whole time to learn about the processes. Now I just do it myself, with professional looking results if I may so. Even bought a porter cable!!

My biggest motivator is the inside isn't that clean right now... not just like soda bottles and stuff but just smudges, dirt, etc etc etc and I'm just too lazy and not careful enough to do it well.... but at least I know I'm worthless

$140 is pretty good. There's a place not far from me that does the "full detail" for $179 - complete interior, exterior, clay bar and high speed buff.

Their selling it for $129 with a coupon right now tho, so i might go get mine done too

Just make sure you do your homework. You usually get what you pay for...

swirl marks happen if someone with a rotary and bad technique goes to town on your car. With a DA it is almost impossible to create swirls.

$140 sounds good for a true 6 hour job. I was a pro detailer for 9 years before I joined the Air Force, now I hook up all my coworkers and give them full details for $50 (usually spend 5 hours on them). I love cars and I have lots of time off during the week, so works out for them and gives me some extra cash
