mine was a "system too lean" code, with which lexus changed my oil, fresh tank of gas, and called it good. been perfect ever since. the combination of these lights varies, so you'll have to grab an OBD II scanner, and get it checked out.

either you get the error code read or you need to provide us with more info, such as what you were doing earlier, did you install anything?

The VSC light always comes on with a Check Engine Light, as a CEL causes the car to shut off the VSC system. So the issue is likely not with the VSC system. You have to at least provide a code (obtained using an OBDII scanner, which you can get for $30 at Autozone or on Amazon) for people to help.

I had a CEL come up and my VSC light came on (as it always will), and it turned out to be a cracked gas cap. First step for you is check your gas cap is tight. Then, check the code with a scanner or take it to an Autozone type place, which will usually check the code for you for free. Only use the code info they provide you, do not take their advice on how to fix it or agree to anything they propose, they'll just want to upsell you on something you probably don't need. They start foaming at the mouth when people come in asking for a code read because that tells them the person doesn't know much about their car and will be gullible and buy whatever expensive crap fix they propose..

I'm getting P0171 and P0174 Bank 1/Bank 2 System too lean codes right now as well on the 07 IS350 we just picked up two days ago from carmax. I'll post up what it ends up being (car is 100% stock with 52k miles)

Very helpful page here: http://repairpal.com/OBD-II-Code-P0171-and-P0174

Could be a lot of things, but one thing that jumped out at me on that page was the PCV valve, which I've read on the CL forums is a semi-common issue on the ISX50. In fact, my dealer recommended it be checked at the 60k mile mark (I'm currently at 58k) for that reason.

Please do post what it end up being, quite curious.

i have the same problem in my 06 too. ran the scanner on it a while back and it threw the same codes bank1 bank2 system too lean.i used to reset the ecu to turn it off or the scanner to erase the codes and if it came back on then u know its soemthing. but after the 3rd time of it happening AFTER lexus decided it was just my oil i stopped bringin it there. and finally i changed my MAF sesnsor and since then it was fine. threw a scanner on and the codes never came up, i jus had low coolant cel but since then never had system too lean codes.im not sayin this is the fix but from what i read our problem sounds similar so i thought id share.goodluck

also i noticed the cel always came on when it was cold

Any time this happens, the first thing I'd check is for a loose gas cap. If that's not it, find somebody with a code scanner to read the codes (Autozone stores will do it for free); without knowing what the DTC codes are you are just guessing.

Had this same thing happen on my '06 IS350. Yup, loose gas cap. It did not "heal" itself though. Took it to my service advisor at the Lexus dealership and he reset it for me for zero $.

Loose gas cap, roll around for a while. ECU will reset it self. just had that a week ago. tighten it more than the 1 CLICK was the cause.

You're all very fortunate. I got these lights this past Sunday night along with "Check VSC" in the display, and now my car (08 IS350) is at the dealership getting a new engine. Apparently, when the valve spring recall was done a few months ago, something wasn't torqued to spec, and the timing chain got loose.

'07 250AWD, 45K miles - my CEL has come on three times in the last three months.

1st time they did the top end cleaning.

2nd time they said no codes were stored, no problems.

3rd time (yesterday) i took it to Napa Auto to have them check the codes.
This is what they found - 1) P0500 Speed Sensor, 2) P0894 Transmission Component Slipping, 3) P2714 Pressure Control Solenoid Performance.

Any thoughts before I take it to the dealer again?

Thanks for any and all help, I really appreciate it.
