Default What kinda of engine oil do u guys(ur lexus dealerships) use?

I wanted to know what kinda of engine oil Lexus USA use when the cars are taken in for service?

Here in the United Arab Emirates
Lexus uses Total 15W-40 , and the recomended service interval is 5,000KM
last time i was there they started offering service intervals every 10,000KM using 20w-40 ( i think)

I know in the US u guys service ur cars every 5000MILES and that works out to around 8046 KM

Here we have ONE dealership for the region, so the opportunity for them to rip off is great. Id like to know what kinda oils u guys use (especially in the hotter climate regions of the US; Texas, Nevada, Arizona etc

I spent an hr on the phone w these retards from LExus in Abu Dhabi all i wanted was the exact name of the engine oil that they use and they couldnt provide it.

Update:

I called Abu Dhabi Lexus : they use Total 15w-40 for 5,000km interval and i dunno what for 10,000km service interval

Dubai Lexus: use 20w-40 for 10,000km service and a Lexus motoril oil SM 5W-40 fulll synthetic for the 10,000km service interval.

Very confusing, im gonna go to lexus right now to see whats up

We use 5w-40 lexus Synthetic oil for 10,000kms intervals
and Total quartz 9000 5w-40 oil for 5,000kms

for the past few yaers Lexus has been selling their own brand of motor oil in the Middle East. It's bottled in the United Arab Emirates, under license from Toyota and is marketed as being "good for" 10,000 km (6,250 miles)

I have an '06 IS350 and the manual states 5W30. Lexus issued a TSB later, recommending 5W20. I run Mobil 1 5W20 in mine. The 5W40, 15W40, and 20W40 seem awfully thick! Of course you are in a different climate, but that doesn't change the tolerances within the engine. I am curious what your oil pressure is running 20W40 in that car.........

turns out we r running (atleast now) 5w40 from total and not 15 or 20w-40 like i said,

But still idont seem to uderstand the differences between all the diff viscosityies and what is good for what. very confusing

online ive read that teh lexus oil is very excellent motor oil and at a good price

Mobil 1 5-30. Now all my cars use the same oil. I change it myself and my inventory is quite simple.

i only use m1 5w30 full syn grey cap from what i remember
reason i use that is because i like to have a little extended oil changes if the money isnt there at the moment i normally do it at 5k miles which is the between of 3k old school and 7500 new school oil change .. but since i know i i can go over my normal 5k any time its ok, but i also do alot of idling cuz i do have a kid that sometimes i need to leave the wife and kid in the car with the AC on , some of the M1 doesnt allow long period of idling such as the 15k gold cap m1, by the way ive put this oil through extreme ussage on previous and current cars/truck/suv has never failed me .. from towing with my nissan titan , to a turbo charged toys and a built 11 second all motor honda, and local scca here in san diego, and thats a little over 25 cars ive owned in my life time and im 29 =)
