Looks good I plan on doing mine soon as we'll. did you strictly dip only the chrome? Or the whole window trim molding?
Also did you dip the L on the steering wheel? Pics?
Thanks

I agree. Luxury car... Makes the car appear cheaper in my eyes with the black out trim. Like a mod u would see on a Civic or something.

If someone has tinted windows the chrome trim might not work as well as blacked out trims.

To each their own....

you should check out the black vinyl tape that some members have used, including me. I got it from the website that sells Mini parts. forgot which Gen you need to buy (search). holds up very well and is removable if needed.

Hey thanks for the link.

Ill def check this out. Will this product cover all the chrome around my windows or will it look OEM?

The link you provided is for mini coopers. Will this still work on the IS?

I had good luck with this product:

http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/tr...l#.VSfy9fnF-gY

Easy to use and one roll was enough to do all the window chrome.

From a scale of 1-10, how hard was this install for you?

A 2? If you have ever put tape on something, that's about the extent of it.

Now, to do a quality job, that requires more time and patience. I may have to redo my driver side at some point.

First, I started by cutting the tape in half (length ways) since it's twice as wide as needed. Then clean the trim pieces well and finish it off with a wipe of some rubbing alcohol.

I found that one edge, I could line up and the other side I would slide my finger nail along and it would push it into the groove and slice the material as well, allowing me to peel off the excess.

Two things to note, if it's too cold (I started doing the work in the cold parkade) the material will be a bit brittle. If it's too hot and in direct sunlight, that isn't good either. The material may shrink a bit when it cools down, exposing chrome. Try not to stretch it when you apply it.

I was thinking of doing my wheels with the gunmetal gray on an 07 IS350 with 18's. Especially because of this.
