The Lexus won't break. The Lexus gives you more for less in terms of options. Cost a few billion less to maintain/repair after the warranty is up. Just to name a few.

My roommate got an S4 the week after I got my IS350. His car handles much better, is faster, AWD, and is a 6 spd. That being said, his is more expensive, costs much more to maintain, costs a lot more to mod, and in my opinion lacks a lot of the comfort and style that the Lexus has. If all you want is a driver's car, then the Audi will be a more satisfying experience (I love driving his car). But if you are looking for all around style with performance and modding capability, then the IS350 would be a good choice. Both are very good cars and I dont regret buying mine.

Why not test drive both and see which one you like better? Some people may be bias because you are on a Lexus forum. Drive them both and pick one... that why you won't regret it or you can't blame us.

Yeah, besides the crappy reliability of most things german... price is a huge one, with the S4 ranging from just under $44,000 invoice for the absolute cheapest base model to over sixty grand fully loaded.

That's more than you can buy a new IS-F for.

I would compare a S4 more to a IS-F imo

the S4 pricing is comparable to an ISF, but the stats are no where close. The S4 stats are comparable to the 350 while the RS4 is comparable to the ISF

I was in the market for a used entry level luxury car and was looking at the BMW 3 series, Mercedez C class, and the Audi A4. I found an 08' S4 that had wheels/exhaust/tint/Alpine DVD Nav. I used the three strikes rule about the Audi when I almost bought it. 1) Maintenance (over 1K for timing belt replacement), 2) Insurance was WAY more. 3) Fuel economy was 13MPG. I went with the tried Lexus for its 1)looks, 2)reliability, 3)comfort. Good luck

That's true, but most people shop for a car with price range as the primary factor. Performance and specs are taken into account after what they can afford. Therefore I would probably consider the S4 comparable to an IS-F because they are roughly in the same price range. IS350 would be on pair with an A4 IMO. Which is why people consider Audi generally as underpowered.

i would say test drive both car, i bet if you go to some audi forum you would see alot of comments saying why audi is better. You will get nothing but bias opinions but you will not get a feel of how the car rides.

If you're going to go German, just get a BMW. They have narrowed the driving experience down to a science. Don't waste your time with a junk Audi or Mercedes.

If you go Japanese, however, Lexus all the way. Toyota makes arguably the best motors in the world.

I test drove a used 07 S4 when I bought my used 06 350. The S4 felt a little slower (it was the V8) though on paper it may be faster. The interior was very nice (as most audi's are), however, in the end the reliability and looks sold me on the IS. The S4 is a very nice car, can't go wrong either way IMO.
