Default Carbon Engine Cover

I am a huge fan of carbon fiber and a carbon fiber engine cover for IS's just looks awesome. Problem is I didn't want to spend $800+ for a real one. All I really like is the look anyways, so saving weight to me is not that important. So I found a cheaper way to get the look I wanted and by my opinion it looks better than the $800 Lexus option. What do you guys think??

Doesn't look terrible. Why does the look matter though? I mean, how often do you look under there anyways? It's not like the engine bay in modern Lexus models actually looks good, lol.

Never did get the carbon engine cover idea... I mean if you actually want to save weight, take the cover off, don't put something else back on.

Ahh well. It does look pretty cool I guess.

That doesn't look bad. Cheaper than the F Sport. If you like it then it's cool just to have and you know it's there cause it's your car. I like it!!!

Interesting. I would have done just the center "V" in carbon, or the inversion of that, and then color match the other parts to your paint.

Could you explain how "hydro dip" works?

Not really my cup of tea, but it's your car, so if it works for you, then it's all good. That's a pretty cool technique of getting the CF look. I've never heard of it before.

Sorry for the delay but yes that video is a great example of hydro dip. Super cool process but not many people do it. Luckily the guys at Lexus of Dayton hooked me up. If you have any more questions or would like to have this done you can contact Lexus of Dayton at 937-438-3800 and ask for Scott Gomez. He knows a lot more about this than I do.

This gives you +4 points on the Stunt'n status. I recommend getting an exhaust first if you're going to spend $800.00. Trust me on the exhaust, you'll spend more on gas money because of the rawr!!!!
