It sounds amazing, and thanks for the compliments. As for the spare tire, the box will slide back an inch or so more, and I am able to slide the carpet and spare tire cover out to access the spare. I love the deep bass of the 15. Just wish the Memphis amps were a little cleaner on the doors. The Hertz was much cleaner, but was seriously underpowering my sub stage. I only got 240w out of it at 2ohms, and the sub was rated 500w. The Hertz wasn't 1ohm stable, so I couldn't get more than the 240. I am always looking for audio equipment, and would love to eventually end up with Audison amps. There are hatefully expensive though, and it may be a while before I make the switch. 100 degree temps in NC every other day for the last month have slowed my progress, but I expect to have it wrapped up by the end of the week. Have to router some material off of my beauty board before mounting it. Then it should look quite nice. Thanks again for all of the compliments. It has been a real PAIN, but a labor of love none the less...........

I smoked one of the voice coils of the 15 yesterday. Pisses me off, because I am only running my gain at about 25% and have it crossed over at around 65hz. I believe the sub was bad, but got it on Ebay, so I am screwed. Got to find another 15..... Working on that now. It does sound really good, and gets crazy loud. The difference, is that this gets ridiculously loud, but stays crystal clear. The Hertz door speakers will make your ears ring, but you don't hear any distortion at all. Hope to get a new 15 in it by next week. Trying to decide what I want to run next. I have had really good luck with the Memphis subs in the past, and can't believe I smoked this one so easily. Has to play deep, but SQ is paramount!

This is NOT what you want to see when you pull the motor assembly off of a woofer......

If you look closely, you will notice that half of the wires are bright copper, and half of them are black. The black wires are the burnt portion of the voice coil. I was playing deep bass for no more than ten minutes when it burnt. Clearly a bad woofer. It's only money, right? Dang!

With your installation, did you have to relocate the main board or did you leave it in place?

Clean install! I wonder if a single din with touch screen will fit or if the shifter would be in the way?

Great Job on doing your homework and getting it right. I bet the SQ is awesome.

I might be doing something similar to your setup hopefully in the near future, but I probably am not going to put the HU in the dash. Don't know where yet..

Wow...you did some damage bumping that thing. I've smelled some odor as well and have been told it's the voice coil as well. Good luck with what you get.

Replaced the M315 with the newer style C315. Sounds absolutely amazing, and can handle 800w rms (instead of 500w rms for the M3), thanks to the aluminum voice coil. Sexy too. Will post pics tomorrow......

Updated pics..... Swapped the Memphis MC1.500 sub amp for a Hertz EP1D (1,000w @ 1ohm) and the Memphis MC4.50 for a pair of Zapco amps. The 350.2 gives me 100w x2 on the fronts and the 200.2 gives me 50w x2 on the rear doors. Much better SQ than what I had before. Also switched to a sealed box so the bass is tighter and cleaner. Haven't carpeted the box or the amp rack yet, but that will be next....

Wow great job fabricating the single din dash trim! Very pro mod!
I was looking into doing something very similar in my IS250 but with a Single Din Flipout screen radio. I'll be referring back to this thread for tips and tricks

Amazon Amazon

-I just ordered one yesterday, it says that'll fit 07' IS250. I should have it by 1/25, i'll write back once I got it
