issue with windshield fluid!!! help!

While getting prepared for the snow heading my way I noticed that my windshield spray doesn't "spray"... it just leaks out a small amount of fluid at a time, which doesn't even reach the windshield. I have a 2006 and I was under the impression that our cars do have a low windshield fluid detector. Just in case I topped off the fluid but noticed that the results are the same... Any ideas why the fluid would be leaking and not spraying? Could it have anything to do with the weather?

Thanks!

Maybe its clogged. Check for blockage. Sometimes its left over polish or wax that was left from the last cleaning.

your talking about the tips? they can get clogged? it almost seems like there isn't enough power forcing the fluid out... I'm not sure if there is a motor involved in the spray but if there is could it be that?

Try sticking a tip of a needle in the sprayers to see if there is a difference.

Just curious is this supposed to be exposed? this is right behind the bumper were the drivers side wheel well is.

Yes, those are the vents from the front of the car. They help cool the brakes.

Not sure how wax or polish could clog a WW tip on the ISx50? The sprayers aren't on the hood.

If the weather is already cold and you don't use WW fluid that won't freeze, then ou could have a slusshy in the tubes...How does it spray once the engine warms up, and thus the engine bay, WW tank, and tubes are warm?

The issue is that they don't spray at all it kind of just leaks. Almost like there is now power. I'm going to take it to the shop today.

Maybe the tubes aren't all the way on and are leaking where they join?

put hot water in the reservoir

My guess is that there is frozen washer fluid in the system. This is especially likely if you used summer "bug wash" fluid in warmer weather that doesn't have anti-freeze properties, and which could now be diluting the winter fluid.

Did you get any resolution on this? I'm asking because I've parked my 2006 IS350 outside for the first time overnight and the temperatures got to about 10-deg F and neither of the left or right side jets could give me any washer fluid on my windshield. I thought it was the lack of fluid (without any warning on the instrument cluster), so I topped it off, but that didn't help. Eventually the right side (passenger) got to work, but the left (driver) still remained stuck even after I drove for 30-minutes.

^^^ happened to me before, frozen summer fluid

Gville350 11-27-13 12:31 PM

Yeah, you need to use the kind that still stays fluid at subzero temps.

Would this also be the culprit for the headlight washers not working? About a week ago I used my headlight washers, and they worked just fine. Now when I try to use the windshield washers, no fluid comes out. I looked at the headlight washers and they look like they're sticking out a little, like they won't close. I tried to close them with a little pressure but I didn't want to press too hard because they might break.
