Can't get garage door opener to program

The garage door opener on my rearview mirror won't program. I have had homelink in my past 5 cars, and have never had a problem programming it. Has anyone else had trouble programming theirs? Any suggestions on what to do?

I had to press a button on the actual garage door opener on the ceiling to get mine to sync, but it took 10 seconds to do and was done. I think it's because mine has a "rolling code"?

you have to sync the remote up to the car and then sync the garage door opener to the car. that is how i got my masterlift to work

This is exactly it. I couldn't get mine working for years and then i did both and i worked like a charm. I just did this last month.

Does it work for apartment complexes?

It should if the apartment is using a rolling code. If not you just sync to the remote and works like a charm.
