Valve Spring Recall - $$$ Bonus
#17
I just got my recall letter last week and there was no mention about rebates, gas etc. Then again, they filled up my tank when I had the gas pedal recall done and they never mentioned that before hand. I brought the car in with pretty much a full tank, so I didn't really get anything from them.

No, it's not just Canada thing. I just received my letter today and along with the certificate, and I had the valve spring recall done last month. The letter also said that they would extend the powertrain warranty for another 6 yrs
You actually don't even need to wait for the letter to bring in your Lexus for the valve spring recall.

^ The $1,500 "certificate" towards a new car should expire roughly a year away from when one receives it. I was out of town for about a week earlier this month, and got my letter in a bundle of mail two days ago. The certificate has an expiration of 10/18/2011. I haven't gotten my $500 "gift card" yet, so I can't speak to that, but I would guess it would be close to the same deal.

My car is at the dealership right now getting the valve spring recall and the cam gear noise TSB done...I have not heard anything about this gift certificate, but you will be sure that I am going to ask the service manager over there about it...I can faintly hear my F-sport exhaust coming...

That kinda makes me wanna not do the recall for a long time then since I won't be buying another car for several years at least, depending how the 3rd gen IS turns out.

I know what you mean though. That particular incentive seems like it shouldn't expire, especially since the whole idea behind it was promoting customer loyalty.

Yeah, but isn't part of buying a CPO the extended powertrain warranty? So it dilutes the value of the CPO premium. Or am I missing something? Seems to me that everyone who performs this recall is now getting something for free that others paid for.
