The LEDs are kinda growing on me (but I never hated them in the first place). I wonder what color temp the LEDs are though, and if they can be easily changed. If they were 6000K I'd be very tempted to pick these up.

You need to take off the front bumper to gain access to some of the bolts holding the healights in place.

You should take note the 2011 headlights DO NOT HAVE AFS. i was reading my motor trend and it states clearly that it does not have AFS and on the lexus website it simply states it has auto-leveling. just letting everyone know.

but i would be quite interested to know if the new headlights have a better projector built in

Is there an AFS-equipped headlight option?

Yeah i wonder if the projector is a rear bulb entry instead of side entry. If its a rear, then the output would be nicer than the current 2IS projectors

If it's rear entry I will upgrade my headlights for sure, but I doubt it.

^wow $1k + $2k just to update the lights, might be smarter just to trade in for a new car and put $3K as down payment

^ Yeah, I'm expecting the new headlights to go for around $1.5k. That's what the current AFS headlights sell for on Sewell, with the internet discount.

IDK why you guys make such a huge deal about AFS, It's really not that big of a deal.

The AFS is probably a big reason why the light is so much money. Without ballasts, these lights should be no more then $1200.

I think people are annoyed mostly by the fact that Lexus is taking away features rather than adding them. One step forward, one step back - it's more of a psychological thing IMO. Personally, I use AFS quite a bit with some of the rural roads I often drive through, so it is a fairly big deal to me.

Huh? What do you mean without ballasts?

I'd be shocked if the new headlights had $1,200 pricetag. I'm expecting $1,500-$1,700 - we'll find out soon enough.

I would love to swap my 2009's headlights for the new ones. I have AFS and don't notice anything different when driving at night. It seems like more of a gimmick.

But the LEDs are cool and give the IS an identity. Right now, my IS 350 looks no different than a Civic or Camry or Sienna from a distance. Being an upscale brand, a Lexus should look different than regular Hondas and Toyotas.
