Help! I have an unusual noise in my engine!
Engine noise. I have a noise that I sounds very much like a smog pump going out. However, when I took my oil cap off with the car running the noise was very very loud. I know my cams, etc are in there and I'm really concerned. I'm not a mechanic, but I know a little about cats and thought maybe one of you knew what it could be....it's a 2007 is250 with 160,000 miles on it. Please help! Thanks

You have to few posts to leave a video but you could use youtube and leave a link.
They are noisy engines. At 1/2 crankshaft speed are the cams. Couple this with DI and the thump of the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) and the noises are different than PI (port injection) engines.
Do a search on this site or yt and listen to over 500 posts on noise from this engine. Most is normal if maintenance requirements were met throughout its life.
