I have a 2006 IS350 with ML DVD and I just got the SL2iC. Does anyone know what emulation mode to set it in? I'm thinking MP3 but not sure. I need help before I tear into this. Thanks

 

I thought about that too. I think a switch makes more sense than a hub to avoid confusion to the system. I use a switch like that to switch my wireless keyboard and mouse between my mac and pc. But the switch has failed twice in the past 18 months so i didn't want to put it in my car.

I have the same question: Nav without Mark Levinson, would I benefit from ML+? Or is SL2IC good enough?

From what I understand, Mark Levinson systems have digital sound while without it, it's analog anyway. But there might be difference in the video?

Secondly, with ML+, if I don't care about using the Nav while driving, do I need the PS override? ML+ does allow screen usage while driving doesn't it?

i just installed the SL2iC. but i cant get it to display my ipod out. can somebody help?

All sound systems convert from digital to analog at some point. With the ML it is Digital to the amp, and the speakers are analog. With the Lexus Premium Audio, it is analog from the headunit to the amp. That is what I have heard on the forum in the past.

The ML+ sends a digital signal directly to head-unit, and the SL2iC sends analog signal from the iPod.

My guess is that even with the regular system, you will see sound advantage with the ML+ but it won't be as pronounced.

So if I was a non ML customer, I think it would boil down to this:

Trade-off for non-Mark Levinson customers for ML+
+ Slightly better sound
+ Much better menu and interface
- Loss of motion override for bluetooth and nav (can still use ipod out and video out in motion)
- Need to enter a 4 digit pin to override for video out
- Costs more

Obviously if you have the PS override kit, then the first two negs disappear.
If you have Mark Levinson then the sound difference is huge.

 

You need to program SL2iC into CD-MP3 emulation.

 

i change the emulation to CD-MP3. but still no luck. Music plays, controls work, but it just wont say playlists, artist, etc.

Basically if you are stuck in the screen which has the 6 discs on it, then holding the scan button should switch you back to the screen with the menus.

 

I can get to the screen that has the menu, play button, etc on the cd-mp3 emulation. I just cant get it to display my list of songs, artist, etc.

 

seems like you aren't really in the mp3 mode yet. might want to do the emulation again. make sure you hear all the beeps correctly
