It was from the youtude sticky car dashboard solution, treatment done within mins. We need to lubricate the dashboard with water base conditioner so that it will only protect the surface and not heat it up melting it, water evaporates and wax heat it up further,

The key here is the water based dressings/protectants. These allow the dash board to heat up and do not trap the heat like a silicone based product does. Silicone based products create somewhat of a miniature greenhouse effect between the surface of the dressing and the surface of the dash which creates this sticky feeling.

Products like Armor All and other cheaper dressing should be avoided as they can actually harm your dash! Invest in proper, water based products like Einszett 1Z Cockpit Premium (sold by Detailed Image - a forum Vendor) that also provides UV protection for your interior surfaces.

A wet towel will not harm it, but it is in your best interest to also apply some sort of UV protection to the dash to prevent it from cracking and fading.... just make sure it is water based protectant like the product I had linked above.

As for melted surface it may cause plasticizer contamination in air and dioxin (a carcinogen / cancer causing agent) released by plastics etc... It is about the amount of toxic chemicals that could have been released into the car and hence being breathed in by the driver and the passengers.

Most plastic will melts . A new youtude on sticky melting solution shows the Ferrari melts very badly. I guess it is the plastic melting point.

Default ES 350 Dash melting

I am the original owner of a ES 350 and I have never used cleaner on my dash. It is literally melting and disolving before my eyes. It has marks and scratches if you barely touch it. I use a sun shade but I live in Texas. I think it is a shame to pay so much and have you dash melt. Also have a problem with steering wheel peeling on section with selection buttons. I was told this was a defect but the items will only be fixed if the car is under warranty. My car is no longer under warranty. Expensive fixes for something that shouldn't be broke. I think they should do a recall on these items.

Same here in, TX extreme heat and dash and all four doors are melting and becoming very sticky. Anyone have the link to the TSB. "TSIB bulletin came out 12.02.2011" on this issues... Dealership said they never heard of the problem but will take some picture. I will wait for corp to answer. The dealership quoted us around $6-7k in parts. No labor quotes yet...
