I have insisted on taking the car from day one, but they continually say no, they cannot until the recall fix has been performed. I've gone in multiple times trying to drive the car out of there. They have given me a loaner, an ES350, which is not bad at all...But it is not MY car, and it's a total soccer mom car. Not to mention I have already invested almost $5000 in parts, rims, etc. which are sitting in my living room, and I want to get to work installing.

I bought this car as an early 30th b-day present to myself (this friday), but my plan was to buy it at the beginning of the summer so I could have some fun in the sun with it. But now I wont even have it on my birthday, chances are I wont have it this summer.

Sorry for the short novel, I'm just irritated and blowing off steam.

Hopefully I'll get this car very soon. I'll be posting pics a few weeks after that.

It's an 08. A fully loaded 2010 IS350 would leave me with no change for mods right out of the gate...Which is my plan.

Tell the dealer they should install all your mods for free to make you wait all this time!

What is their reasoning for not letting you take the car and then bring it back when the recall is ready? I just dont get it.. but hey at least you got a loaner

I mean there are thousands of IS350's for sale at Lexus dealers all across the country and I guarantee you could buy one from any "other" dealer and drive off the lot that day... you just got screwed buying from that place

I would be soo pissed of if this happened to me. Were you told this would happen before the sale. I would try and just drive it out of the dealership since it's your car or I would just cancel the sale and tell them to go and f'in screw them selves.

I experience some problem with my car yesterday while driving to work. Exactly what they say. Engine was losing some power, throttle slow to respond and the car shakes like driving on a dirt road. All the lights came on: VSC, Traction Control and Check Engine lights. I also have Brake lights came on. Brought the car to dealer and they said they have to wait for part and they couldnt find anything wrong with the car other than the Parking Brake Switch got fried and need to be replaced.( reason why i have Brake lights came on).

My car VIN drop in the BE26xxxxx series.

So....just got back from vacation and decided to check on this recall, and TIS has now got the tech instructions for the SSC ALE...that would lead me to believe that this is now active and dealers should have parts now or very soon...

I was curious to see if they will be replacing gaskets and seals they need to remove to perform this recall, and the instructions do have the replacement seals and gaskets being used...

I will be scheduling this recall as soon as I run my gas tank low, remember they will be filling up your tank when they do a recall

This happened to me in December before they announced the recall, here's what they gave me...26.2 hours labor. Wow. I have 55k on my 2007.

In case people are wondering, I just checked the lexus/owners website and the recall is now good to go. I think...

This is what I see:
2006 LEXUS IS350
Safety Recall ALE - Certain Lexus GS 350, GS 450h, GS 460, IS 350, LS 460, LS 460 L, and LS 600h L Vehicles - Valve Spring

This is an important Safety Recall. Please contact your authorized Lexus dealer and schedule an appointment to replace the valve springs with the newly designed ones as soon as possible.

What is the Condition? During the manufacturing process the valve springs on certain Lexus vehicles were contaminated with a foreign material. As a result, the strength of the spring might be compromised. Over time, there is a potential for the valve spring to develop a crack and eventually break. A broken valve spring may result in abnormal engine noise, vibration, and/or power reduction. In the worst case, the engine may stall or not accelerate as quickly as anticipated, which could result in a crash.
----

I'll be calling my service adviser to ask about the status and whether or not we could start bringing the cars in.

Bump: Any update on this? I want to take my car in to get the VVTi valves fixed and I would rather wait and do both at the same time...

Default Recall "valve springs"

I was the "MY LEXUS" website yesterday. And noticed a recall on my 08 is 350 for possible foreign material in valve springs. Has anyone else heard of this or experience any problems related to valve spring damage?
