Tire Sensor Broke?????????
New owner with a used car... I don't think you can claim any for free repair.
Here are some factors you need to think before you decide where to get it done:
-Any TPMS sensor has about 8 yrs of battery life and the battery cannot be replaced, so you prolly don't want to get one from fleetbay or any other source besides the dealership.
-No one but only the Toyota/Lexus dealership can reprogram the new sensor (unless you have an inside guy to hook you up) and it will be cheaper to do it at a Toyota dealership.
-You can ask a new o/e parts at local tire shop and let the shop to install the sensor into the tire to save you some bucks. Make sure the installer copy down all info of that new TPMS sensor (a few sets of numbers) then take it to a dealer ship for "TPMS Registration Only"..... you prolly save about $50 with this plan.
-What if you need more than one sensors and dealer did not catch this problem... then you need to do more running between places again...
-A good local tire shop should be able to tell you how many sensors you need without charging you, but a local shop can't perform the registration.
FYI, and I am a tire expert
Good luck with your decision.

DEALERSHIPS are SOMETIMES nice to let it go for free... i had mine all programmed for free so far...
Discount Tire... certain shops of discount tires can do the programming..
claiming with the company who claimed that their fix a flats are TPMS safe... maybe possible.... but just a hassle
Andre
so Did you put fixaflat in it?
I dont know why they wouldnt just warranty it for you.
If the tech took your tire off to actually see what was wrong, he should have just wrote it off as warranty work. It probably took him more time, that he didnt get paid for, just taking it apart and back together than it would have to just replaced it.
Discount Tire stocks the sensors and has the programmer. They replaced and programmed one on my car that they broke mounting a tire.

my check system light also just popped on and my car just went out of warranty, the dealer wanted $165 just to tell me why the light was on, seemed ridiculous so I left, but I need to find a reasonable price to fix this.
Here's a thought: Fix-a- flat is a Sealant used to seal air off from a particular area if you remove the sealant from the area (TPMS) you don't want it maybe it will work. I know some of the sealant is water so you may have to take the TPMS apart, blow dry, clean with electronic cleaner spray, & dry again, cover with rice to absorb more moisture & test it may work again.
