Hello,

First off, I'd like to say I'm a proud owner of a 2010 IS250! I'm glad we all have something in common now

But anyways, I bought my car a week ago and recently noticed a very slight tapping sound in the engine. Is this normal or am I being paranoid?

More than likely you are just hearing the tapping from the injectors which is normal. If its anything else you could always bring it in to the dealer.

Does your IS make a similar soft tapping sound as well?

Yeah, I had the sound in my '07 and it's there in my '10

Hmmm... I was also wondering the same thing, since I don't really hear that on my previous car.

I guess the tapping noise sounded more like slight ticking noises.

If everyone has the same sound, then it should be fine. If anything does happen, at least, we all go down together

@BoOst3d - I thought the direct port injection was a feature for IS350 only?

Yes, the injectors are more of a ticking sound. Scared the crap out of me when I first heard it - I made them fire up 3 new IS250s on the lot to convince me "it is normal and they all do that" (heard that one way to many times in the past)!

You had the dealer fire up 3 IS on the lot to prove it. Haha... That's nice of them.

If that was a BMW dealer, they would've kicked you out then run you over with their car.

You got it backward... all ISx50s have direct injection... only the 350 also has port injection as well.

I have the same noise i have 6000 miles so far on the car. Does anybody have a sound clip of an IS350 idling? no exhaust just stock

If it sounds kinda like a diesel engine it's working properly

It does have that diesel sound on idle but not when its moving . I had a 2000 GS300 before and I could barely tell if the engine was running. It's just not "Lexus like" with the noise
