Default High beams and HID question

I am to get HIDs for my high beams, but have been getting mixed answeres on whether it will eliminate the DRL.

If it does, what is the best option of bulbs to go with for whiter bulbs.

I searched, but can't seem to find what I am looking for.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Much mahalo,
Mike

Only way to get white drls is with white led bulbs. These eliminate high beam function though. The drls are high beams at like, half power so most bulbs will look yellow.

Check this out: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ng-lights.html.

I don't think halogens will ever come close to HID color. If you do an HID retro in your high beams, I don't believe the DRLs will still function. Pretty sure running HIDs at half power is a bad idea.

Thanks guys. This really clears things up.

So its either HID high beams or nicer DRL. Can't have both.

Another option is to get the Silverstar Ultras so you have a nice, bright high beam and can flash people (which you can't really do with HID high beams since it's so hard on the ballasts). Then, have the dealer just turn off the DRL functionality so you don't have the ugly yellow during the day. This is what I'm doing.
