Loud noise when in reverse
When in reverse and I cut the wheel all the way while backing up, I get a really loud noise like I hit something or a sledge hammer on a piece of metal. Usually happens when backing out of a tight parking space.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?

when you turn the wheel all the way do you experience unusual turning resistance? also have you gotten the recall for the steering rack and pinion done? if it isn't part of that recall, you have 5k left on your drivetrain warranty, i'd use it.
thanks for the quick reply. no, i don't have any unusual turning resistance. yes, i did have the recall work completed for steering rack and pinion.
i have the extended warranty - but was curious if anyone had info or similar experiences in case i receive the 'can't duplicate' response from the dealer when taking it in for service.

a quick pound sound likely is the bushings or sway bar endlinks shifting. check those components for wear or play. also could be the brake pads shifting as the pads against the rotors are not accustomed to moving the other direction.
