4 Airbags deployed, question regarding installing new airbags
Hi everyone ,
it's been a long time since i posted anything here, it's a shame it had to be about an accident.
i had a front end crash that deployed both driver's airbags and both passengers airbags(knee and dashboard).
luckily the other participant was 100% responsible for the accident so I will be fully covered by insurance(yes it's a bit different here)
first of all i had NO passengers with me, so is it OK that the passenger airbags were deployed or do you think i should talk to the dealer about it?
although my biggest concern is what should be done after re-installing the new airbags, should there be a re-programming for the responsible chip or whatever, or will the new airbags be automatically detected(which i don't think will happen)?

Confused as to why passenger side airbags deployed if there was no one sitting in that seat. It has sensors in it to detect the weight of someone....that's why when someone is in the seat, the light on the dash comes on saying passenger side airbag ON.

What year 2IS do you have? I don't have this light on my 06. Is this something different on newer IS's? I do get the warning light near the clock that says the passenger's seat belt is not on, but that's it.

It's a '07
yeah the airbags are expensive, but I'm not paying so i really don't care, the car wasn't totalled, it is fixable(everything is i think).
it's a wierd accident, the hood was barely affected by the accident, but the hit came into the lower part of the car so i think it triggered the airbag sensors there.
anyways now i know i have to do someting to the SRS system.
what about the seatbelts? they are "frozen" and do not move at all, should just buying new seatbelts and changing them fix it?
i am asking these questions cuz the car isn't being fixed at the dealer, They are thieves here.
