car starts..but then immediately shuts off?

I have a 07 is350 stock...I get in push the brake, the start button lights up green..then while Im still holding the brake I press the start button, car starts, but just for a split second...then shuts off...this is the second time this has happened in a couple of weeks...anyone got any ideas to why this is doing this...

check the sensor on your intake. make sure it is properly fit into place. i know that my sensor was unhooked and i had the same issue. other than that. just take it to lexus if you have warranty

rselby 01-28-10 04:36 PM

ok...do you mean the mass air senso?...havent even messed with anything under the hood yet...but hey ..Ill look anyway! thanks

not sure it is the sensor...i could start my car fine with the sensor unhooked, vsc light just lights up... maybe its the battery?

jnguyen87 01-28-10 04:43 PM

are you holding down the button when you press it? i ran into this too..then i figured i was holding down the button too long..

rselby 01-28-10 04:54 PM

maybe so...I will pay more attention to how long I hold it down...if thats it I will feel like such a dumb ass...LOL...battery is ok..not draggin on any starts...just started it up a min ago and its fine..dosent do it all the time ..just sometimes..but will watch how long Im holding down the start button :)

It's not so much as you holding down the START button long enough it's moreso you holding down the BRAKE PEDAL longer..sometimes my car will do it but it's because I let my foot off the brake too quickly..so check that too.

Can't be the battery if the car cranks and starts.

Keep you foot on the brake a bit longer like eric said. That might be it.

+2. If you take your foot off the brake just as the engine starts, it results in a stall.

I hope that's the problem because i have been having the same issue

boostfiend 05-28-12 02:31 AM

Same year and model

slimjimtel 05-28-12 04:55 AM

+1 on the brake pedal. Also if you let the button go too soon it can stall as well.

Samieee 05-28-12 06:09 AM

You don't have to hold the button. Just hold the brake pedal

ibidu1 05-28-12 02:25 PM

Could be a bad ignition switch. Is it pulling up any CEL codes?
