Default closing the hood

anybody have a tough time shutting the hood? i opened the hood for the first time today and when i close a hood i usually like to set it down so it initially locks then press it all the way down so it fully locks. i tried that method but i couldn't get it to fully lock. then i decided to drop it at a low height but that still didn't fully lock it! i had to literally slam it from half way up before it would fully lock. is this normal for other people's hoods or is it just me?

You can push it down to lock with enough force, however when I first did that, it felt like I was on the verge of putting a dent in the hood, so now I just drop it from the lowest possible distance that will close it. The dealer actually warned me about that when I purchased the car.

I have the same problem. I just drop it from half-way. I wish it closed as smoothly as it opened!

Having had two Ford hoods fly up on me at speed, shattering the windscreen, I'm firmly in the let it drop from 18" or so camp.

Slam it. First time I closed it gently I was scared something broke. Bimmer hoods are like this too, as in my 5's hood needs to be slammed.
