Default HELP... CHECK ENGINE, VSC, Slip Indicator..

I have an AWD IS250 with 17k miles on it. I put wheels on at 14k miles.. THey are staggered but with in the allowable tire range.

I was at a stop light today when my check engine light, the slip indicator light, as well as the display stating to "CHECK VSC" all came on...

PLEASE tell me its not my transmission?!?!?

Any ideas??

what makes you think its the transmission lol It happened to me last week, i cant tell you what was it exactly, but the cause was that i got stuck in snow really bad; anyways i took the car in; they reset the computer(or whatever)&everything went back to normal. It took 10min.

ah, the unholy trinity. lol. /OT

time for a dealership visit. if you are running a staggered set-up but within an allowable range, it shouldn't be your transmission.

however, it MIGHT be your center differential.

then again, i'm just guessing.

The "Check VSC" and slip icon come on any time you get a check engine light. That's because the car automatically disables VSC automatically when the check engine light is on. As for the check engine light, the first thing to check is whether the gas cap is loose. If that is not it, you'll need to bring it to the dealer, or someone else with a scan tool to read the codes.

Yes stock wheels, but their is a TSB on the IS250 for engine problems that cause those same lights to come on, do a search you'll find a huge thread on it.

yeah put your stock wheels on before taking it in, the dealer will no doubt try to blame it on staggered wheels being on an AWD

So, if it really IS the problem how will you know?

If it were mine, I'd take it to Autozone and have them read the codes, post them here, I'll look them up and we can figure out if it might be the wheels or if its something entirely unrelated (which is VERY possible). Once you know what the DTCs mean, THEN you can take it to the dealer (assuming it ISN'T the wheels) and have it fixed under warranty.

BTW, I personally wouldn't go to Autozone - I have an OBDII scanner in my tool box.

thanks for the advice guys!!!

2 days after I posted this, my check engine light turned off... but than came back on while I was driving to work. At this point I realized that it wasn't my transmission, so I took it to the dealer, (cuz they had to replace my fuel rail anyways).. turned out that my Air Fuel sensor was bad.. they replaced it for FREE!!!
