Default Bumper Got Hit...

So last night, I was playing tennis at a neighborhood court and some rowdy high schoolers were there playing soccer on the tennis court. One of them, driving a crappy 96 Pontiac backed up into my car, leaving scuff marks on the car (don't know full extent of damage yet). All his friends were still there and he came back because he didn't know he had bumped into my car backing up like a maniac (luckily for me). Well anyways, got all the info I could possibly get from him and didn't want to call the cops if I could take care of it outside of them. Anyways. I got his insurance number, address, and personal info. What should I do? Should I take it straight to his insurance company or talk to them first? I've never been in this situation before so any kind of help would be awesome. I will post pics tomorrow with better lighting of the damage.

You need a police report to go through insurance. Well for my insurance you do at least. Im sure its not that much damage so make him(mom&dad) pay out of pocket for it. Sucks that it happened man, good luck with solving your problem.

I'm pretty sure your first mistake was not getting a police report, but then again I don't know what the laws are in your state.

No police report = significantly decrease chance of getting covered.

Not sure about the laws and procedures in your state. But I was always told to get a police report or some kind of official report if I was going to involve the insurance company. It's always a good idea to have something on record.

How significant is the damage? Is the paint just chipped? Any pics? Good luck with the situation and keep us updated.

Here are some pics of the damage... By the way, I have like 10 people who saw it happen too so I don't think I have to worry about something weird happening.

Sorry about the accident, it looks like moderate damage. Just followup with driver and his insurance company. It's not worthy of a federal case.
