Default Steering Failure = Accident.....

You could call today the worse day of my life. I was cruising back home and came to a stop for a left turn. Right when it changed green, I automatically stepped on the gas (going probably 10-15mph) as usual and proceed with the turn. Halfway through the turn my steering wheel stop turning/non-responsive (like you skidded on oil) and collided with the sidewalk. I bounced off the sidewalk, my traction came on and left me skidding to the left. After the accident I went to check my car and found the passenger side wheel completely pushed backward into the lining and my fender popped out. There was some scrape on the rear passenger side wheel, but everything else was fine. I just couldn't move my car or anything because the front wheel is stuck. And I forgot to add that I'll be going on vacation for a week so my car is stuck at my friend's house. It just totally ruin my vacation and mood.

I have heard recall for steering problems before and what frustrated me most was I did all my recall service less than a month ago. Is there a way to find Lexus at fault and cover this accident? Chime in fellow Lexus drivers.

PS I have a 2006 IS350.

Sound like a ball-joint failure... Happens to 2GS ALOT.

My boy took some picture, but I didn't have time to upload or get it from him yet.

Yea, I'm thinking about contacting them. I should expect the least to happen on Lexus

thats some scary crap...

something like that happened to my niece, her floor carpet wasn't "hooked" on, so when it slided up under the gas pedal, it blocked some sensor and kept on going....red line... wouldn't stop. even when pushing on the brake. she had to force the car into park. 06 is350.

Hate hearing stories like this. Absolutely report it to Lexus at once. The longer you wait, the less viable it will look. Also get a lawyer. The only way to go anywhere here is to make a big stink and put pressure on them. You'll also have to document every single little thing, so start making a list of times, places, speeds, motions, etc.
Best wishes.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to contact them asap, but I'm going on vacation today so I won't be back until next week to contact them. I hope everyone get their Lexus checked out especially 2006 ones. They seem to have the most problems.
