Car wouldn't start.... Is it the battery???
I have a 2006 IS250... have had NO problems with it up untill this morning.
I got in my car this morning to start it and all the electronics came on, but the engine would not turn over. As I pushed the button it just made a weird clicking noise, but would not start. The break was very stiff.... I tried a couple times before I went in the house to get my boyfriend. Long story short, he jumped my battery and it started. How could all the electronics work if the battery was dead. I am so worried it is something else. I drove his car to work, I am dreading his phone call this morning when he leaves if the car starts or not. Has anyone else had this problem or heard of anything like this. Again, all the electronics worked.... when I pushed the button to start it would not turn over, it just made a loud clicking noise. I hope someone can help me!! |
Sounds like it to me.

not enough juice from the battery......

The starter requires quite a bit of energy to turn the engine over. If you were able to try to turn the engine over by hand you would understand what I mean.
The electronics of the car do not require near as much power. Most of those electronics could be run off AA batteries and that is why the radio and other electronics worked but would not turn the car over. If it's the factory battery it is not unusual to need a battery at this time. |
You can take out the car battery and get it test free at PepBoys if the battery is good before replacing it. If not, its the key.
|
have the battery checked at PepBoys or Autozone. They may even try to charge it for you if its dead.

Any update? What was the problem?
|
doesnt sound like what happened to me with the TSIB fuel line replacement in which the throttle body had a ring displaced, must be the battery.
|
I agree with it being the battery!
|
Did you depress the brake pedal when starting?
|
The battery doesnt have to be all the way dead for it not to have the power to start the car.

multiple clicks usually means battery.

First timer here - I have a similar problem and it is not my battery. Lexus dealer checked the battery and it is excellent, according to them. Not sure about the clicking though - mine does not do that. My 2006 IS250 AWD turns over but seems like gas is not getting in. It takes like 3 or 4 attempts and then starts fine. This is usually after driving to lunch, parking for 30 minutes and then coming back to start it. It starts fine every morning. I purchased the car used a few months ago with 35,000 miles. Dealer is getting it this Monday and indicates that they need to replicate the issue in order to fix it under warranty. I will let you know the outcome next week. I saw a thread regarding this issue on IS250's a while back, but do not know how to look it up - not enough experience here, yet.

Your problem is not the battery but a fuel delivery issue most likely the fuel pump. |
