Default strange smell

when i turn on the AC in my car i get this disgusting smell that almost smells like urine... like it's disgusting... it's only recently begun to smell like this (since it became warm and i started using the AC)

could it be the cabin filter that needs to be replaced? or?

there's no smell when i'm not using the AC though and just the fan..

All you have to do is turn off your A/C a few minutes before you turn off your car. This will prevent the fowl odor the next time you start your car and turn on the A/C. Don't leave your A/C running when you turn off your car.

Changing the cabin filter is unlikely to resolve the situation, which is caused by mold and fungus on the evaporator core. Little E's suggestion is a good one, and often all that is needed. If that doesn't resolve the issue, have the dealer clean the evaporator core with a coil cleaner.

This is what I do. A mile b4 I get home I shut off AC and let outside air flow in. For 3 years, I haven't smell any urine odor. I also change cabin filter every 15k.

How much is it to change out the cabin air filter by the dealer?

Do it yourself- takes like 5 minutes in the glovebox.

Default Vent air smells like feet... =(

Hey guys...

The air from the vent started smelling like feet dipped in vinegar. I changed the cabin air filter today but the smell is still slapping my face.

Is there anything else I should check for?

No, the condenser is by the radiator, if it were smelly only the engine would notice. The part that gets moldy is the evaporator.

i tried doing this today... it didn't really work at all. i also tried blasting the fan w/ out the A/C on and the smell was still there, just not as strong (for whatever reason)

btw - when you change your cabin filter what is this setting that it is suppose to be on? or else something will break? hmm?
