Default Can I buy a new 2009 IS, but request that the dealer put on the 2008 18" Wheels??

I am looking to purchase an 09 IS w/ the 18" wheels as part of a package. I do not like the style of the 09 18" - would most dealers agree to put on the 08 18" instead? Do dealers still have access to past wheels to put on a vehicle? Would they have to take them from another (likely used) car on the lot, or do they usually have a few sets in stock?

Thanks guys!

they would probably like that actually, then they could throw those 09's on an 09' without 18's..

It's worth a try. If you live in a affluent area of CA, the "take-off" wheels are plentiful enough. Or they can swap off of one of the used cars in stock.

Yes, I also don't care for the 09 18" wheel. Spokes are weird/twisted and the finish looks greasy or something.

This is a rather simple request. The dealer should be willing to accommodate you if he wants the sale. Just don't mention your request until negotiations are complete, then tell them that for the sale to complete, they must change the wheels.

You can ask your dealer to do anything, but be prepared for his favor to eat into your deal somewhere. His time is money and they generally do not like changing parts on cars, especially if they are new. Each VIN number and sticker specifically lists the factory options (such as rim type) and it screws things up with other sales when they sell something with mismatched options. I've tried this years passed and was told no. Good luck.

I agree, it's really not that big of a deal and not a deal-killer. Porsche dealers do it all the time. And VIN number tracking to wheels is not even a consideration.

^ +1.. I was about to do this EXACT thing when I got my '09 back in december. originally I was gonna get a new '08 late last year but I haaate those '08 chrome-looking liquid metal rims and asked them if they could slap some '07 rims on. they said that it was no problem. obviously, they're all desperate for sales these days, and just kinda took advantage of that fact. but eventually I decided to get an '09 and for a second I was thinking about adding the '07 rims (which another member on here did from what I remember) but saw the '09 rims in person and loved them. they're nice man, and the sweet soft gunmetal color is really nice IMO. have u seen the rims in person yet? just think about it like this, stick with the '09 rims and down the line if u REALLY hate em, it's easy to find '06-'08 rims on ebay and the clublexus sales forums in good condition for cheap. think about all the members just here on clublexus alone getting aftermarket rims. simple as that.

Aren't 08 and 09 have the same color finish?
