does debadging really lower your car's value?

not just talking about the actual lexus logo, but the text "lexus" and the IS 250/350.

Not really unless the buyer notices. Make sure you get those holes patched up behind the emblems, its not just held on with glue.

i started off with the "250", so far theres only 1 small hole behind the "0". got any tips on patching it up and matching the paint?

Does not affect any trade in or retail value. Its personal preference.

That’s a prime reason why not to debadge. Some people who know cars will think you’re phony, trying to pass your 250 off as a 350.

Furthermore, I believe many prospective buyers of a debadged car will associate the mod with spirited driving, thereby making it less attractive as a reliable used car. In that respect the debadging would lower its value.

debadging is my favorite mod. Replacing the 350 with "WALD" badge looks way better, and it cover up the holes perfectly lolz.. Oh yeah people dont actually try to race me anymore cause they dont know if i'm driving a 250 or 350 :)

AS~IS May 8, 2009 02:49 PM

Hahaha... Just pop the hood, and the dealer will see through it.

Phil, they probably just gawk and stare with awe at your car. :P
Wald inspires admiration.

Yup, everytime I see a de-badged car, it's always the lower tier model whether it's the BMW 328, MB C230, etc

Yes, because the selling dealer can easily (and at low cost) rebadge if they prefer to.
