The Nikon 50D is a great camera but it's only as good as the glass & flash you use with it. Don't get off-brands. A Nikon f 2.8 80-200 will set you back 1400 & a Nikon speedlight another 400. Being a car person, I say spend the money on your ride and then borrow someone's camera when you want pics. Go with coilovers or springs, sways, exhaust and intake to start. You will use your car more than a camera.

I'm with this guy... Especially if it's your first "real" camera - buy a cheap one and learn with that. Save the difference toward your wheels - that will make the most dramatic difference in your car. All the other stuff is easy once you have your wheels.

Ditto on the lens, though a Canon will probably come with a decent lens from the get go.
I have a Nikon D40 with a Tamron 18-270mm VC f3.5 lens. It's much better than the kit lens plus I no longer need to change lens' due to the range of this one.

Good luck with whatever you do.

depends on what you want. regardles of what mods you ever get, at some point in time you will need to drop the car, so drop it on coils, if you dont care about coils, get some springs(250+plus isntall), tint(220), redouts(20), intake(200), exhaust tips(50), and all for under 1G

You could go with G-spider wheels for less than 1K installed

Other than that, I would go with Canon camera. What lens are you getting with it? The 28-135 is a little on the long side, if you can I would say get the 17-85mm

The 50D is a semi-pro camera. ANY camera, especially a DSLR, is only as good as the individual behind the lens. I, personally, would not go as far as the 50D unless I new that I had the skill set to use it to its fullest potential (I don't) When it comes to DSLR cameras, you need to understand, the skills of the photographer is everything, the camera means nothing. Looking at an amazing photograph, and then telling the photographer "Wow! you must have a great camera", is a bit like dining on a fantastic gourmet meal, and then telling the chef "Wow! you must use great pots and pans!" Great photography is an art, the camera, only a tool.

I'd get the F-Sport Exhaust. Its $999 from Sewell's "F-OFF" code right now!

Well currently I have a Canon Rebel XTi w/ 18-55 Kit lens & 17-85 IS USM. I used to have a 50mm 1.8 but I broke that in Iraq. I want to replace it with the 50mm 1.4. I dont have a flash either. I have a Tripod and UV and CirPol filters for both lenses. I really want rims and coils. I dont want to get an exhaust right now. So to me on my list of mods for my car would be:

For Car

1. Tint
2. Coils
3. Rims

For Camera:

1. Flash
2. 50mm 1.4
3. Lens?

Thanks for the input. I decided against the 50D this morning after reading this. Now what to do...

Since you got the 250, a sway bar set would be too expensive. I went with sways as my first because I only had to replace the rear to get 150% stiffness in handling :P.

Actually my first is a JoeZ intake; but that took that from my ex IS250. ~$125 upgrade. It makes a difference in the sound and you can feel the car pushing as well.

Exhaust only changes the sound, really no power output for the price. Don't waste your money on this.

Rims look nice but also very expensive. No improvement that you can feel. Plus do you stare at the car all the time or do you drive the car? (Don't flame me people, just setting priorities here. I want new rims as soon as I can afford them).

So go with the coils. I am about to pull the trigger on getting the buddy club coils. I hear very good things about them from here, rx8 clubs, and rsx clubs. Because the vehicle ride height is adjusted independent of the spring pre-load, so the spring rate is always consistent.

Regardless, new cameras are always coming out so if you really wanted the 50D, it'll be cheaper later on but your car, I am sure you use it everyday. Either way though, you are helping the economy! :P

the most important thing for our cars to make a big difference in the look is

WHEELS and DROP

... so the best thing for you to do right now if u plan to spend on ur car anyways is to
get the megan coils.. 850$ i think

or save up another grand or 2 for a nice set of wheels
